We would be particularly interested in candidates with significant SEND experience – we welcome applicants who are current SENCOs or those who wish to become a SENCO in the future. Most importantly we are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated Class Teacher at Upton St James, a wonderful and inclusive school in the Upton area of Torquay. Upton St James is based in a Victorian school building but hold modern, nurturing values and pride ourselves on our strong community links. Our Christian Ethos helps to create a warm, calm atmosphere, whilst priding ourselves on our high achievements. The Academy is part of the St Christopher’s Trust - a family of 19 Church and Community Schools spanning three local authorities and providing a rich network of collaboration. The Trust will build a package of exceptional continuous professional development around the appointed teacher.
We are looking for a rigorous practitioner to bring learning to life for our pupils. You will be experienced and skilful in challenging each pupil, whatever their starting point, using your strong pedagogical practice and philosophy so that every pupil can truly ‘Rise their best!’
With high expectations, you will be used to being proactive, as well as collaborating with others. We are looking for the appointed teacher to hold subject leader responsibilities, with the subjects open for discussion at interview.
