MPS/UPS + SEN1

To start September 2025

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to appoint enthusiastic, flexible and innovative teachers as a result of a continuing increase in pupil/student numbers at our school.

St Mary’s is a popular and successful residential special school and college for pupils/students aged 5 to 19 with speech, language and communication needs, learning difficulties and other associated SEND.

We welcome applications from highly successful and experienced primary, secondary, mainstream or special school teachers, as well as ECT Teachers. We ask candidates to please identify aspects of particular strength and successful experience when applying.

We would like to appoint teachers who are able to adapt well to new challenges and are committed to raising achievement and who have the ability to demonstrate outstanding practice and high ambition for our pupils/students. The successful candidates will be especially skilled in adapting planning, implementing additional support programs to meet pupils’/students’ specific needs.

St Mary’s is a great school to work in. We can offer a very high-quality learning environment, a friendly and welcoming staff team, including an onsite therapy team, access to excellent resources and our pupils/students are a delight to work with!

The successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • An understanding & interest in SEND, with experience in working with pupils/students requiring additional support in accessing the curriculum;
  • The ability to ensure aspirational pupil/student progress for all pupils/students, regardless of their prior attainment, which at St Mary's is significantly below age related expectations;
  • The ability to work effectively within a team, providing direction to support staff delivering targeted intervention programmes.

Closing date for applications is NOON on Monday the 31st March 2025, interviews will be held after the Easter holidays.
