Rainbow Forge Primary Academy

Rainbow Forge Primary Academy is seeking a reliable and conscientious School Cleaner to join our friendly team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors.


Hours & Contract

  • 12 hours per week
  • Term time plus two additional weeks (to support planned cleaning during academy closures)

Job Purpose

To ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout the Academy on a daily basis, contributing to a safe and pleasant learning environment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out cleaning duties as required, including sweeping, dusting, wall washing, toilet cleaning, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Use the correct equipment for each specific cleaning task, including electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Follow all instructions and COSHH regulations when using cleaning materials.
  • Empty litter bins in classrooms and offices.
  • Replenish janitorial supplies in toilets.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety procedures designed to protect yourself, colleagues, pupils, and visitors.
  • Report any damage to buildings or equipment, or anything that may pose a risk to pupils or staff, to the Site Manager/Caretaker or school office.
  • Ensure windows and doors are closed and the building is secure when cleaning is completed.
  • Carry out planned cleaning programmes during Academy closure periods.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) for the tasks involved.
  • Take responsibility for the care and correct use of all cleaning equipment and materials provided.

Rainbow Forge Primary Academy is a larger than average sized primary school with approximately 360 children on role. We offer a nurturing, caring learning environment for children aged 2-11 years.

Our Nursery provision is divided into three separate rooms based on age and stage of development with each having its own specifically designed outdoor learning area. On leaving nursery children enter the reception class which also has its own specially designed outdoor learning area and dining room.

We offer a before and after school club for all children aged 2 -11 years in two separate spaces for the younger and older children.

We are fortunate to have extensive outside areas where children can safely learn and play. Other facilities include a gym, art studio, library equipped with computers, laptops and i-pads, a separate dining hall and an assembly hall with a stage equipped with a sound and lighting rig.

Creativity is an important part of life at Rainbow and we are proud to have been awarded the Silver Artsmark in recognition of our work.
