Cleaner Supervisor job summary

Location: Worfield Endowed CE Primary School
Salary: NJC Grade 3, Scale Point 5 (£13.26 per hour)
Hours: 12.5 hours per week

Typical hours Monday to Friday, 7:00am-9:30am (to include unlocking school) or 3:30-6:00 (to include locking school) A split shift would also be considered for candidates who wished to combine this role with other employment.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and committed Cleaner Supervisor to lead and support the delivery of high-quality cleaning services within one of our schools.

This is a key role in ensuring that the school environment is clean, safe, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors. You will work both hands-on and in a supervisory capacity, coordinating a small team of cleaners and maintaining high standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a team of cleaners to deliver high standards of cleanliness
  • Carry out day-to-day cleaning duties across classrooms, offices, corridors, and communal areas
  • Allocate and prioritise cleaning tasks
  • Maintain stock levels of cleaning materials and place orders as required
  • Act as a key holder, opening and/or locking the school and ensuring the site is secure
  • Ensure all cleaning is carried out safely, following health and safety guidance
  • Report any hazards, defects, or maintenance issues
  • Support deep cleaning during school closure periods

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of cleaning and/or supervising cleaning staff
  • Is practical, reliable, and takes pride in their work
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety and safe use of cleaning materials
  • Can organise workloads and support a very small team
  • Has good communication skills and can work collaboratively with school staff
  • Is flexible and able to work independently
