What skills and experience we're looking for
Relevant qualifications
Experience of working in schools as a cleaner is desired
Key responsibilities
Carry out cleaning tasks to a high standard to ensure all areas of the school are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
Adhere to the School’s waste management plan, ensuring the safe disposal of waste in designated collection points.
Operate cleaning machinery such as vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, and wet pick-up machines in line with safety guidelines.
Clean and maintain surfaces, furniture, and fittings to a high standard.
Clean internal glass, windows, and other reflective surfaces as required.
Respond to emergency cleaning situations such as spillages, flooding, or accidents in a timely and effective manner.
Maintain cleanliness of exterior hard surfaces including paths, playgrounds, and artificial/turfed areas, and ensure outdoor bins are emptied.
Comply with health and safety regulations, taking reasonable care for your own safety and that of others, and reporting hazards or concerns promptly.
Be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding the welfare of students, reporting any concerns to the designated safeguarding lead or senior staff member.
Attend required safeguarding and health and safety training sessions to remain up to date with policies and procedures.
Carry out any other reasonable cleaning or site-related duties as directed, in keeping with the scope and grading of the role.
General
Working hours are currently 3pm – 7pm, weekdays in term time, plus 5 days during the school holidays for deep cleaning and ad hoc tasks.
Undertaking any other duties that may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties. Any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms

To attend safeguarding training as required by the school and maintain your knowledge and understanding of your responsibility for safeguarding children in this school.
To take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their activities and where appropriate, safeguarding the health and safety of persons under their contract and guidance in accordance with the provision of Health and Safety legislation.
