Cleaner job summary
The main duties are as follows:
Cleaning
Carry out daily cleaning of assigned classrooms, toilets and corridors and other areas as directed , maintaining high and consistent standards.
Take initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that are not specifically contained within the cleaning schedule but require attention as part of maintaining overall high standards.
Report cleaning supplies requirements and stock levels to the caretaker.
Assist with an annual deep clean of areas.
Awareness of COSHH and use of chemicals in safe manner.
Optional extra duties (will attract the higher pay rate (point 5) and some overtime pay)
- Assist the caretaker with overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of swimming pool and be willing to attend a training course in small pool plant operating procedures. This is additional work every other weekend to maintain the pool (April – July) and will be paid overtime in addition to basic salary.
Keyholding – available to open and lock-up in absence of caretaker and perform some of the caretaker tasks if needed with regards to maintenance checks.
Security and health and safety
Check at the end of the day that all windows, doors and gates are locked, lights switched off, and gas and electrical appliances are turned off in the area that you are responsible for.
Advise the caretaker/business manager on all matters relating to school security and safety.
