Cleaning Assistant job summary

We are seeking a dedicated Cleaner to join our team, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across the Academy. The ideal candidate will ensure that all areas are kept in great condition, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for staff, pupils and visitors. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with an eye for detail and prior cleaning experience to excel in a supportive setting.

You will be responsible for cleaning specific areas of the school site, ensuring the site facilities are appropriately clean by the end of each day. Typically, this role will involve working later during the day, however during periods of school closure there may be the opportunity for day cleaning services also.

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure surfaces, fixtures and fittings, walls, partitions and internal woodwork are cleaned as required.
  • Clean floors using various means including mops, hoover and/or buffer (training can be provided).
  • Clean toilets, changing rooms and other sanitary areas and dispose of rubbish in appropriate manner.
  • Undertaking specific cleaning programmes during school closure or other designated periods in compliance with the specification for the premises.
  • Complying with Child Protection and Health and Safety Policies at all times

You will be/have:

  • A good communicator with excellent cleaning skills.
  • Able to work under your own initiative but also as part of a team.
  • Able to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Have an ability to build positive relationships with staff.
