RESPONSIBLE TO

·      Senior Staff

 

OUTLINE OF THE ROLE

·        Under the guidance of senior staff, the Cleaning Supervisor will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the cleaning function, ensuring a clean and hygienic school environment which meets the specified cleaning standards.

 

MAIN DUTIES

·       Carry out general cleaning duties.

·       Use electrical cleaning equipment as appropriate.

·       Maintain correct levels of materials and equipment.

·       Ensure the safe use of all machinery, equipment and chemicals.

·        Keep external areas of the premises clean and tidy.

·        Undertake activities to maintain safe and clean external environment e.g. gritting.

·        Collect and assemble waste for collection.

·       Carry out various janitorial and portering duties.

·       Assist with minor / simple repairs e.g. minor plumbing, changing light bulbs, unblocking drains, repairing door furniture.

·       Lock / unlocking school buildings and areas.

·       Report any incidents/problems to senior staff.

·       Provide emergency access to the school site.

·       Co-ordinate periodic cleaning as required.

·       Ensure that all health and safety policies are adhered to by staff


 

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

·       Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all.

·       Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.

·       Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.

·       Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.

·       Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.

 

 

DEVELOPING SELF AND LEADING OTHERS

·        Take responsibility for own professional development including maintaining an up to date knowledge of developments and related legislation including engaging fully in performance management of self and other staff (if applicable)

·        contribute to effective staff induction and professional development

·        manage own workload, providing support where necessary and delegating where appropriate

·        to ensure that professional duties are fulfilled, as identified in regular line management meetings and appraisal meetings.

 

OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES

·      To be agreed with the successful post-holder once appointed

 

SAFEGUARDING

OTHER INFORMATION

The duties may be varied to meet the changing demands of the Kinnerley CE Primary at the reasonable discretion of the Headteacher/Line Manager. The post holder may have opportunities to work or support other schools within The Marches Academy Trust. This job description is not exhaustive and does not form part of the contract of employment. It describes the key duties that the post  holder is expected to perform.

All applicants who are appointed to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau before the appointment is confirmed. This check will include details of cautions, reprimands or warnings, as well as convictions and non-conviction information. Once provisionally appointed, the successful applicant may also be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure at predetermined intervals during the course of their employment whilst in this post.
