CLERK TO LOCAL GOVERNING BOARDS

6 Hours per week

(Hours are on an annualised hours basis and are 270 hours a year.

Total yearly paid hours are 311 which includes holiday pay)

Single Status Grade 7, Points 18-19 (Salary £28,720 - £29,398 pro rata)

The Governors of Cavendish Education Trust are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, confident and organised individual to be our Clerk to our Local Governing Boards.

Supporting the two Trust’s Local Governing Boards (Cavendish School & Stafford/Roselands schools) this is a vital role which is critical to the effectiveness of our Governing Bodies in fulfilling its core strategic functions. You will take responsibility for providing independent advice, guidance and support to the Governing Boards on a range of matters relating to governance, constitutional and procedural matters.

The Local Governing Boards report to the Trust’s Trustee Board which is separately clerked. You will provide administrative support to both Governing Boards and will work closely with the Chair of Governors on both Governing Boards to make meeting arrangements, produce accurate minutes and advise the Governing Boards.

The role will enable the person to work flexibly and you must be highly organised to work for the Local Governing Boards. Meetings may require late afternoon/evening attendance at School and all meetings are scheduled in advance, with reasonable notice provided. The hours need to be flexibly used across the year as clearly there will be busier periods eg when leading up to meetings, than other times throughout the year.

You must;

  • have excellent experience of minute-taking and be highly organised will excellent attention to detail;

  • have excellent communication skills and be able to manage your own time, balance a variety of responsibilities and prioritise tasks.

  • have good ICT skills (IT equipment will be provided);

  • Previous clerking experience is desirable but not essential as training and support will be provided. You must however have the skills to effectively manage information in accordance with legal requirements
