This is a specialist role requiring a high level of communication skill. It is essential that all applicants hold a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 qualification as a minimum. Working under the guidance of the SENCO, you will:

  • Facilitate Learning: Use BSL and Sign Supported English (SSE) to provide real-time communication support in a mainstream classroom setting.
  • Remove Barriers: Differentiate lesson activities and develop BSL topic vocabulary to help students engage with complex subjects.
  • Empower Students: Promote the social inclusion and independence of hearing-impaired students within our vibrant school community.
  • Collaborate: Work as a key member of our LSA team to monitor progress and support the wider welfare of students with Special Educational Needs.

About You

  • Essential: Minimum BSL Level 2 qualification.
  • Desirable: BSL Level 3 or experience in a similar educational support role.
  • Academic: GCSEs, including English and Mathematics are essential; A-Level or equivalent higher qualifications are desirable.
  • Personal: Patient, proactive, and calm under pressure, with a genuine desire to work within our joint-faith Christian ethos.

What We Offer

  • A supportive, collaborative environment where your specialist skills are highly valued.
  • Continuous professional development and the opportunity to work alongside experts in SEND.
  • The chance to make a profound impact on the academic and social success of students with hearing impairments.
