Communication Support Worker job summary
Crowdys Hill School is a dynamic and forward‑thinking special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs. We are seeking an inspiring, dedicated Communication Support Worker to provide 1:1 support in our Primary phase to a year 3 deaf child, helping them access learning through high‑quality communication support. You will need to hold BSL at at least Level 2.
Your daily duties will include:
- Greeting the pupil from their bus and bringing them into school.
- Provide 1:1 communication support for a year 3 deaf pupil.
- Use British Sign Language to facilitate communication, learning and independence.
- Work as part of our experienced and supportive staff team.
- Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive.
- You will be expected to play an active role in the class and wider school.
- Use your skills for the benefit of all children (deaf or hearing) whenever the deaf child does not need support.
- Support the teacher with classroom management.
- Movement and handling support of pupils as needed.
- Personal and medical care for pupils as needed - training provided.
- Supervising pupils at break and lunchtimes.
- Working closely with teachers to ensure all pupils are supported in school.
- Escort pupils onto their bus to go home.
- Liaise with onsite SaLT team.
