About the Role
As a Class Teacher at Romans Field School, you will be at the heart of our mission to provide personalised, high-quality education that truly meets the needs of every pupil. Your role will involve:
- Planning and delivering engaging, bespoke lessons using a play-based, total communication approach, incorporating tools such as communication books, signs, symbols, and assistive technology.
- Supporting pupils with a wide range of communication styles and physical or sensory needs, helping them to regulate behaviour, build independence, and develop confidence.
- Working closely with parents, carers, and a multidisciplinary team to create tailored learning experiences that promote progress across all areas.
- Embedding positive behaviour management strategies informed by trauma and attachment principles.
- Contributing to curriculum development and whole-school priorities that enhance Reading, Writing, Maths and pupil engagement.
- Participating actively in the wider life of the school and federation, embracing opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
About You
You are someone who brings warmth, patience and resilience to your teaching practice. You understand that communication is multi-faceted - encompassing speech, signs, gestures, facial expressions, and technology - and you adapt your teaching creatively to support children with complex needs. You will:
- Have experience working with children with moderate learning difficulties, ASC, SEMH, and physical or sensory needs.
- Be confident in using total communication approaches, including Widget and Sign Along.
- Be committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment where every pupil feels valued and motivated.
- Thrive working collaboratively within a supportive team and wider federation.
- Be eager to engage in continuous professional development and contribute to school improvement.

We are a special school for pupils for 5- 11 age
Primary need is SEMH, but we also have children with complex needs.
