Computer Science Teacher job summary

Do you have the talent to bring Computer Science to life within the classroom? We have strong and established links with local industry to enthuse our students about the IT and computing environment. Come and be part of it!

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Computer Science Teacher to join our Business and Computing department. Committed to raising attainment, you will have the ability to motivate our students to succeed to the highest levels.

The Business and Computing department is staffed with a team of highly motivated and experienced teachers and has a commitment to continuous school improvement. We are a friendly department with a fantastic opportunity for a committed and innovative teacher to join the team.

The academy offers KS4 GCSE Computer Science and CIDA IT courses, and has a strong Sixth Form IT programme. The number of Sixth Form students taking the subject has grown year on year. We have an established KS3 programming club as well as the Business and Computing lunchtime club.

We also arrange a number of student trips throughout the year including a visit to the National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park which took place in the Spring Term 2018.

Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet we also featured in the national Ofsted report (2016) for providing challenge to the most able. Does this enthuse you?

There are approximately 950 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff.

If you are passionate about education and want to really make a difference to the lives of young people then The Highcrest Academy could be the school for you; a thriving school in the heart of the community, with free on-site parking, staff recognition schemes and free gym to counter the “Friday Biscuits” and on-site coffee shop!

All who work at the academy reinforce our six virtues linked to our motto (Ambition, Sensitivity, Purpose, Integrity, Resilience and Eloquence), helping us instil a culture of excellence that runs throughout every strand of our Academy.

Situated in the leafy Chilterns and within easy reach of Central London, Highcrest is culturally and academically diverse and is the only academy in Buckinghamshire that caters for students of ‘all abilities’. Some of our students need all your support, whilst others need to be challenged and stretched. Our inclusive and successful House system, a wide range of clubs, visits and trips helps to bring our whole school community together. There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, including the Sixth Form. Recent additions to our site include a gym and restaurant/coffee shop for both staff and students, as well as a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre.
