Computing Teacher job summary

We are looking for a computing teacher to join our Design & Technology department and become part of our cohesive, professional and supportive team. The department is a thriving area of the academy where students engage in computing, art, photography, design technology and catering. The department is equipped with modern IT packages, a dedicated IT room in addition to workshops and a fully equipped catering room and art rooms.

Ormiston Six Villages Academy is an exciting and supportive place to work. We aim to stretch, to stimulate and grow a love of life-long learning. Ormiston Six Villages Academy is a secondary school for children aged 11-16. It is situated in Chichester in West Sussex and there are 700 pupils on roll.

Our new colleague will also benefit from being part of Ormiston Academies Trust, a MAT of 43 primary and secondary academies. The Trust’s vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential. OAT support all staff so that they can enhance and develop their professional skills whatever their role within the trust.

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons across key stages 3 and 4, creating a stimulating learning environment that fosters curiosity and proficiency in computer science, programming and digital literacy. There is also an opportunity for teaching Business in addition, if desired.

The successful applicant will:

  • inspire, enthuse and engage computing students every lesson to produce the highest quality work and achieve high academic standards.
  • collaborate with other STEM subjects enriching students outside the national curriculum, eg. robotics, Lego Mindstorms, game design.
  • have a passion for education and improving the outcomes of students.
  • be confident working with students across the age and ability range.
  • be a dedicated teacher, eager to contribute to the extra curricular work of the department and wider life of the academy.
