Cover Manager job summary
About the role
As our cover manager, you will
- Consult with supply agencies to organise and allocate daily lesson cover for absent teaching staff
- Be the main point of contact for teaching staff, supply agencies, and senior leadership regarding cover arrangements
- Ensure all cover staff receive appropriate briefing and resources for lessons
- Be involved in planning for known periods of staff absence such as exams and school events
- Use the school MIS (Bromcom) to record absences and allocate cover efficiently
- Oversee a team of cover supervisors in a large school environment
- Maintain a calm, strategic response to unexpected absences and last-minute changes
- Gradually take on delivery of supervised cover lessons
37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time)

Who we are looking for
- Educated to GCSE level/ NVQ-level 2 or equivalent, including English and Maths.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Proven ability to manage complex administrative systems
- Strong IT skills, including MIS systems and Microsoft Office
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional approach to interacting with staff, students, and external visitors
- Ability to organise own work and be self-motivated.
- Ability to remain calm and solution focused in a fast-paced environment

Malcolm Arnold Academy is a co-educational secondary school based in Northampton, Northamptonshire, for students aged 11-18.
The school takes its name from the legendary composer Sir Malcolm Arnold. Born in Northampton in 1921, he was one of the leading figures in 20th-century classical music and helped to establish the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
