Cover Manager (Part-Time, Term Time)

Location: Plantsbrook School
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7.30am – 12.30pm (finish time is negotiable)
Salary: Grade 3, £26,409 – £32,654 FTE

Actual Salary based on hours above £15,881 - £19,637
Responsible to: Deputy Headteacher
Line Management: Cover Supervisors

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Cover Manager to join our team at Plantsbrook School. This exciting part-time, term-time only role involves overseeing the efficient operation of staff cover across the school, ensuring smooth day-to-day management of absent staff and supervising a dedicated team of Cover Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and line manage the team of internal Cover Supervisors.

  • Ensure all external cover staff have the necessary clearance and relevant documentation.

  • Manage and develop systems for efficient cover planning, including staff absences, school trips, professional development, and emergencies.

  • Coordinate cover timetables and allocate staff accordingly, ensuring all absences are covered in a timely manner.

  • Liaise with leadership, external supply agencies, and the Exams/MIS team for exam invigilation and room planning.

  • Manage administrative tasks, including inputting absences and room allocation changes using the Arbor software system.

  • Oversee the accurate billing of cover staff and liaise with the finance team to monitor costs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in managing teams and coordinating staff cover within an educational setting is desirable.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using IT systems, with experience of Arbor or similar software beneficial.
