What skills and experience we're looking for

Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11- 18 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Visitors to Clyst Vale usually comment on the friendly, orderly atmosphere, the courtesy of our students, and the purposefulness in lessons. We have clear expectations and systems, but far more important are the excellent working relationships we establish between staff and students, as well as staff and parents. We remain the only Secondary school in Devon to be accredited Gold Rights Respecting School status.

The Role

Starting in January 2026 we are looking to appoint a highly motivated, organised and confident person to join our team as a Cover Supervisor who can oversee classes when teachers are absent, ensuring that learning in the classroom is maximised.

No previous experience required, however we are looking for someone adaptable and open to development. Someone who may be looking for a new direction or challenge in a role that helps shapes the lives of our young people. This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who is maybe thinking of a career in teaching, or an NQT who is yet to secure their first teaching appointment.

The successful candidate will deliver lessons planned by the teacher but have the ability to improvise if required and work with Heads of Departments to modify the work set. You will ensure that positive behaviour is shown in the classroom and challenge serious behaviour problems in line with the College's behaviour policy. Training will be given in the college's specific IT software, but the successful candidate will need to be able to use Word and Excel proficiently. If you have excellent communication skills, a resilient personality and can confidently liaise with teachers, other members of staff and parents where required, we would love to hear from you.

Hours Monday to Friday 08.30 -15.20. There may be some level of flexibility within the days worked for the right candidate. Salary CVCC D point 12 £20,032 for 1175.37 hours per annum as advertised.

To apply, please visit our website: https://www.clystvale.org/vacancies/

Closing date for all applications is Midnight 7th December 2025

Interviews will take place w/c 8th December 2025
