Cover Supervisor job summary

It could be that you’re fresh from university and finding your feet, or you are looking for a career change into something that inspires you more. Wherever you’re at, this Cover Supervisor role could be a great next stage in your career.

The post would suit a confident, assertive individual who has a good rapport with young people and is able to supervise and teach classes in the absence of their teachers, ensuring that learning takes place in a calm and orderly environment.

At Wootton we are determined to transform children’s lives through education. And we are “warm-strict” in how we go about this: strict in that we are clear about how students should behave and the standards we hold them to, and warm in how we support and care for them as they do this. You will be expected to set high expectations to motivate and challenge pupils whilst managing behaviour effectively and promoting a positive learning environment.

You will do all of this as part of a tight-knit, supportive team. We all work closely together at Wootton, looking out for our students and one another, to ensure it’s the best possible place to learn and work.

In periods where cover is not required the ideal candidate must be flexible enough to undertake other tasks such as exam invigilation, break duties, form responsibilities, administration and general support.

You will have experience of working with young people ideally gained in an educational setting. The successful candidate s will be enthusiastic and self-motivated and be able to work with minimum supervision.
