Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference in students’ lives?
Do you have the skills to manage a classroom and ensure a positive learning environment
If so, Thomas Deacon Academy would like to hear from you!
Your role:
As a Cover Supervisor at Thomas Deacon Academy, you will teach whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher, using set lesson plans to ensure a high-quality learning experience for all students. You will prepare for lessons, liaise with teachers and Heads of Department, and provide feedback on student progress and behaviour. Your responsibilities include supervising students, managing classroom behaviour, and promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students.
To excel in this role, you will need GCSEs in Maths and English (A* - C) or equivalent, knowledge of safeguarding procedures, and a basic understanding of child development and learning. Strong communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and experience in an educational setting are essential. You should be able to use ICT effectively, provide feedback to teachers, and manage student behaviour in line with the Academy's policies. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.
About us:
The Academy’s recent Ofsted inspection in November 2024 noted that “pupils benefit from a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated. They enjoy celebrating each other’s differences and participating in cultural activities. The school provides an ambitious curriculum that ensures pupils develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills from Year 3 through to Year 13, preparing them well for their next stage of education or employment. The Ofsted inspection rated all areas, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision, as 'Good'”.
