King’s Leadership Phoenix Academy is seeking to appoint to perform a hybrid role, an empathetic, adaptable, and resilient Cover Supervisor and Pastoral Officer to join our growing and passionate team.
Situated in Wavertree, Liverpool, King’s Phoenix is a dynamic alternative provision school serving a vibrant cohort of students aged 11-16, many of whom have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a Cover Supervisor and Pastoral Officer at King’s Phoenix, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and engaging learning environment that nurtures both academic progress and personal development.
We’re looking for a candidate who:
- Has experience working with young people in educational or pastoral settings and is passionate about supporting their development.
- Demonstrates strong behaviour management and communication skills, with the confidence to lead a classroom and build trust with students.
- Can remain calm, professional, and adaptable in challenging situations, showing empathy and resilience.
- Is committed to safeguarding the well-being of all students, with a clear understanding of child protection principles.
- Is highly organised, ICT-proficient, and able to manage multiple priorities across classroom and pastoral responsibilities.
- Brings a proactive, team-oriented mindset, contributing positively to the wider school community and ethos.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver pre-set lessons to full classes in the absence of teaching staff, maintaining a safe, engaging, and orderly learning environment.
- Provide tailored pastoral support to students, including mentoring, behaviour intervention, and emotional well-being strategies.
- Monitor and assess student progress and behaviour, updating records and contributing to support plans as required.
- Work closely with teaching staff, the Pastoral Manager, and external agencies to meet individual student needs.
- Track attendance, punctuality, and safeguarding concerns, escalating issues and supporting interventions when necessary.
- Promote positive student behaviour and conduct throughout the school, both in and out of the classroom, including break and corridor duties.
