What skills and experience we're looking for

Post Title: Cover Supervisor , SCP 7-11

£23,114 - £24,294 pro rata FTE

Hours per week: 32.5 hours term time only

Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 3 pm

(Unpaid lunch break 30 minutes)

Responsible to: Executive Headteacher and SBM as delegated.

Purpose: To arrange cover as required due to staff absence. To assist in the continuity of learning and educational provision for students by providing supervision for classes when teachers are absent for short periods. Deployed in the faculties as and where required as directed. To undertake general administrative duties or classroom support when not providing cover supervision.

Main duties of post:

1 To be in school by 7:30 am in order to pick up messages and prepare cover needed.

2 Instruct and supervise whole classes to undertake pre-set work and/or activities during the absence of the regular teacher, including introduction and ending the lesson. Work to be pre-prepared by the class teacher or Head of Faculty. To report back on the quality of work set.

3 Take a class register.

4 Maintain good order and manage behaviour constructively in line with the school policy.

5 Keep students on task as necessary.

6 Respond appropriately to questions raised by students.

7 Collect any completed work/materials and return it to the appropriate teacher.

8 Deal with immediate problems and emergencies in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.

9 Report back on behaviour of students during the lesson and on any issue directly arising.

10 To undertake in-class support with individual students or groups of students as directed by the class teacher.

11 To undertake general administrative tasks as required.

12 Any other duties which may be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined, subject to the proviso that normally any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms.
