Cover Supervisor job summary

We are seeking to appoint a new Part Time Cover Supervisor to join our existing Cover Supervisor Team from 2 September 2025, subject to the necessary employment checks and any notice period required. The successful applicant will deliver pre-planned learning materials to pupils in the classroom, covering for absent colleagues. Cover Supervisors are responsible for management of classroom behaviour during these periods. They are not responsible for planning, assessment and marking of pupil work. If not required for cover lessons, Cover Supervisors assist teaching staff by acting as classroom assistants or providing administrative assistance. The successful applicant will work term time only for 24 hours per week, 6 hours per day, working from 8.45am - 3.45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with an unpaid morning and lunch break, covering up to 5 one hour lessons per day.

The school's values of Trust, Kindness and Determination underpin all we do. Our pupils enjoy their learning in a disruption free environment, and staff are proud to work here. Following our Ofsted inspection in January 2023, Cirencester Deer Park School continues to be a good school. Inspectors noted that:

  • “Pupils welcome leaders’ high expectations of their behaviour and conduct… Pupils enjoy their learning and feel well prepared for the future.”
  • “Pupils behave well in lessons and benefit from learning without low-level disruption from others.”
  • “Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel well supported by leaders in respect of workload, well-being and managing pupils’ behaviour.”

As a high performing comprehensive school in the South Cotswolds, Cirencester Deer Park School is committed to providing outstanding education and developing our staff. A full induction programme is in place to support all new staff at Deer Park and across The Corinium Education Trust. Further information about our school can be found on our website and prospective candidates would be welcome to contact Allison Boucher, Co-Heads' PA to arrange a visit to the school, ahead of the application deadline. A letter to applicants, further information about the role of Cover Supervisor and an application form are all available via the website along with a privacy notice for applicants. Completed application forms should reach the school no later than 9am on Monday 14 July 2025. It is our intention to shortlist candidates for interview by the end of Monday 14 July and interviews are provisionally set to take place on Thursday 17 July 2025.

We are committed to the safeguarding of our pupils and employment is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service, receipt of satisfactory references, and completion of a three month probationary period.
