Cover Supervisor job summary

We require a confident person who can relate well to students and is committed to supporting teaching and learning. Previous classroom experience is not essential; however, some experience of working with young people in a supportive capacity is preferred.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Motivation and flexibility to work across the Academy
  • Drive and passion for the education of young adults at secondary school age.
  • Effective analytical, organisation and communication skills.
  • The ability to work on their own initiative, but also be able to work flexibly as part of a team.

The post holder will be responsible to the Cover Manager/Deputy Headteacher. The working hours for the role are either 28.75 hours per week (Monday - Friday 08:35 - 15:05 with a 30-minute lunch break and a 15-minute morning break each day) or 36.25 hours per week (Monday - Friday 08:15 - 16:15 with a 30-minute lunch break and a 15-minute morning break each day). Individuals wish to undertake the 36.25 hours per week role will be expected to lead/participate in the running of extra-curricular clubs at the end of the school day.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is motivated and passionate about the education of young people. Leading lessons in the absence of a classroom teacher, and assisting within other departments will enable the candidate to get a real feel for what it is like to be a positive educator and enable candidates to gain valuable experience in working with young adults.
