Cover Supervisor job summary
Salary: Meridian Trust Grade 6, Points 7-12 of the Meridian Trust Support pay scale.
Hours of Work: 32.5 Hours a Week/ 39 Weeks per year (Term Time plus one week)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to join our support staff team. There is no requirement to be a qualified teacher, only a passion to support students. Some experience working with young people would be advantageous but not essential.
The successful candidate will be required to supervise classes across the curriculum (KS3 & KS4) following a programme of study during the short-term absence of their class teacher. They will be able to actively engage with the class and follow all classroom procedures and to contribute to raising standards by providing support to departments and the whole academy.
The opportunity
- Opportunity to work across all departments and roles of the Academy.
- Under the direction of the Cover Manager, supervise pupils in class during the absence of their class teacher.
- Contribute to the planning and evaluation of work set for covering lesson.
- Provide valuable feedback on learning activities and contribute towards development planning.
The ideal candidate
- Be a positive team player, willing to step in and help out where needed, and believe in the importance of team work and a collaborative approach
- Good educational background with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience of subject background and working within the education sector
- Knowledge of using different IT software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, parents and outside agencies.
- Positive and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
- Knowledge of the need for confidentiality and awareness of child protection issues
- Flexibility of working hours, committed and reliable with excellent timekeeping
