Are you a caring, motivated, and confident individual who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed? Do you enjoy working in a dynamic school environment, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students stay engaged with their learning?
St Augustine’s School, part of the St Cuthbert’s RC Academy Trust, is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and vibrant school community. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning across the school, supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff, and supporting students to achieve their best.
The role will also involve covering allocated PE lessons, so an interest in sport and the ability to confidently lead practical activities is essential. You will contribute to fostering a positive, inclusive, and active environment, while supporting our mission of excellence, inclusion, and Catholic education.
What We Are Looking For
A committed and enthusiastic individual with experience working with young people in a school or similar setting
Confidence in supervising whole classes and delivering pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects
The ability to lead and manage practical PE sessions safely and effectively
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues
A passion for supporting students’ wellbeing, engagement, and overall development
A willingness to uphold and promote the school’s Catholic ethos and values in daily practice
Relevant experience or qualifications in education, sport, or youth work (desirable but not essential)
What We Offer
A welcoming and inclusive school community rooted in Catholic values
Opportunities for professional development and career progression within a thriving trust
A supportive leadership team and experienced colleagues
Enthusiastic students who are keen to participate and succeed
Access to excellent resources, including equipment for PE and digital tools to support learning
Students have access to one-to-one devices to enhance teaching and learning opportunities
Access to trust-wide networks and resources

St Augustine’s success over the last 3 years has seen us become oversubscribed, invest heavily in our staff development and celebrate sustained results and outstanding pupil progress. We take from right across the coastal area which makes us a truly diverse school community.
Although we may be a smaller than average school (607 on roll) we certainly think big – and our calm and purposeful ethos of learning is frequently commented on from our school community and visitors. Staff know our students well and together we form a cohesive community.
Due to the quality of CPD, colleagues that support each other and a sense of fun and enjoyment we have seen our staff stay and develop – and as such our school has low staff turnover and high staff retention.
