Cover Supervisor job summary
We are looking for an exceptional person to fill the position of Cover Supervisor within our busy school. Our vacancy is initially 31.25 hours per week (8.30am - 3.15pm) over 5 days until the summer holidays on a fixed term basis, then continuing on a permanent basis for 2 days per week (one of which is required to be either Monday or Friday with the second day being negotiable) from September 2026. The successful candidate will be charged with taking classes, to cover some of our teachers whilst they are on PPA, ECT, Leadership or training time. This is a very vital role which, for the right candidate, could potentially result in increased hours in the future.
Stephen Freeman Primary School is situated in Didcot, on the edge of Great Western Park and currently has a total of 452 pupils on roll. The school had an Ofsted Inspection in May 2019 and was rated ‘Good’ in all areas. As a School we are proud of how our pupils engage in their learning and how intellectually curious they are. Our pupils are well cared for in a supportive caring environment and as a school we believe the "Everybody; Every moment; Every idea counts!"
We would like to employ someone who is motivated and has a genuine interest in supporting our pupils, to ensure that everyone has the best possible learning experience before moving onto secondary education. Experience of working in a similar role is desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
Application process: To ensure we conduct a fair shortlisting process we use blind shortlisting whereby personal information (such as name, email address, gender & ethnicity) are not made available to the short-listing panel.
Please note that the school reserves the right to interview on receipt of applications, and to appoint prior to the deadline, so early application is recommended.
Ridgeway Education Trust is committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and expects staff working in all its schools to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS, references and pre-employment safeguarding checks. All Leadership roles will require a Section 128 check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining a post. All cases are considered confidentially and according to the nature of the role and information disclosed.
