We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Cover Teacher to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting student learning and wants to make a real difference in a school environment.

The Role:

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, confident person to join our fantastic team of Cover Teachers. This post would be ideal for an ECT or an aspiring teacher as this role will provide you with first-hand experience of working in a school setting.

You will be an integral part of a friendly and committed team. In this dynamic role, where no two days are the same, you’ll be at the heart of our school’s daily operations, ensuring that learning continues seamlessly during the short-term absence of a class's regular teacher. You'll be supervising students as they complete pre-set work ensuring the work set is understood whilst maintaining a productive and positive classroom atmosphere, keeping the students on task, responding to questions, and generally assisting them to undertake and engage in the set learning activities.

When not covering classes, you will be expected to cover some additional duties including transitioning into a vital classroom support role, assisting with a variety of tasks to help our students thrive.

Prior experience of working in a school would be an advantage but not essential. We provide support and training, including behaviour management skills and there will be opportunities to observe good practice of both classroom teachers and other cover teachers in order to develop good practitioner skills.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a reliable and motivational individual who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

This role will require someone who has the natural ability to connect with our students, maintain good behaviour in the classroom, and be happy to support us in other duties during non-cover periods.

With a flexible approach to working, the successful candidate will be able to create a calm and purposeful class environment and provide support to a variety of staff and students.

What we offer:

With our term time contracts, we offer an excellent work life balance, a commitment to training and development and a friendly and supportive working environment. To find out more about us, visit our website https://www.theburgate.com/ to get a flavour of our school.

You will also benefit from:

  • A supportive school community with friendly colleagues
  • A commitment to professional development and training opportunities
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Free onsite parking
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • A school with fantastic grounds on the edge of the New Forest

How to Apply:

If you are a team player with a flexible approach and a positive, can-do attitude, we would like to hear from you.

Applications will be considered upon receipt, and we reserve the right to appoint someone sooner than the published deadline this if we identify a suitable candidate. You are therefore encouraged to apply for the role as soon as possible.
