Cover Teacher - Including Deputy Leader for Duke of Edinburgh Penrice Academy, St Austell, Cornwall

Job description

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and passionate teacher to cover lessons across the Academy, and join our successful Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) team to become a valuable Deputy Leader supporting our students in developing essential skills, experience, confidence and resilience to successfully navigate adult life.

Essential educational requirements

• Good Honours Degree

• Professional teaching qualification / Qualified Teacher status

• Experience of teaching lessons across KS3 and KS4

Essential qualifications

• Relevant qualifications suitable for Duke of Edinburgh would be advantageous

Essential skills and experience

• Flexible and adaptable to be able to cover lessons across all subject areas within the Academy

• Ability to deliver a curriculum designed to engage all students, create a love of learning and thirst for knowledge

• Ability to demonstrate a versatile approach to teaching strategies, differentiating activities to meet the needs of all students

• Excellent ICT skills

• High level of oral and written communication skills

• An ability to build supportive working relationships and work effectively with other members of staff across the Academy

• A desire to play a full part in the life of the Academy community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage staff and students to follow this example

• A sensitivity to students’ needs

• A commitment to safeguarding children and young people. An awareness of current national legislation relating to safeguarding and child protection.
