About Wellsway School and IKB Academy

Wellsway School is a large, inclusive 11–18 comprehensive school in Keynsham, proud to serve its local community and to offer a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum. As a Futura Learning Partnership school, Wellsway follows the Futura Curriculum, underpinned by the core values of respect, opportunity, collaboration and aspiration. The curriculum is carefully sequenced to build strong knowledge and skills, with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy, early intervention and closing gaps in learning. Mathematics is central to students’ success across all pathways, from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE and post-16 progression.

IKB Academy is a small, specialist STEM studio school for students aged 14–19, located on the Wellsway site. IKB provides a focused, high-quality curriculum where mathematics underpins all STEM learning and is closely linked to real-world application, employer engagement and work placements. Students benefit from small class sizes, strong pastoral support and close partnerships with local and national employers, helping them to progress confidently to university, apprenticeships or skilled employment.

Both schools are proud members of Futura Learning Partnership, a trust dedicated to building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish.

A successful, high-performing 11-18 mixed comprehensive that is popular and over-subscribed, with almost 1300 students on roll. The school is set on the east side of Keynsham, eight miles north-west of Bath and seven miles south-east of Bristol and we are fortunate to have a large, semi-rural setting with excellent transport links for students and staff. Having been part of the Wellsway Multi-Academy Trust since it was founded has already brought many benefits to the school community and a real strength of the trust is its cross phase nature, allowing us to work with leaders with a wide range of experiences and students across all the age ranges.
