Our academy is built on the shared values of being Ambitious, Brave and Kind. As Data and Exams Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting standards, accountability and student outcomes through the accurate management of assessment data and the compliant delivery of examinations.

You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, SEND and external agencies, becoming a trusted professional at the heart of the academy’s operational and academic systems. Staff wellbeing, development and support are central to how we work.

Key Information

Hours: Full time (38.25 hours per week)

Contract: Term time only + results days (typically 5 additional days)

Start date: February / March 2026 (or sooner by negotiation)

Main purpose of the role

The Data and Exams Officer is responsible for the integrity, accuracy and effective use of student assessment data, alongside the planning, administration and delivery of all internal and external examinations.

The post holder ensures full compliance with JCQ Instructions for Conducting Examinations (ICE), General Regulations, and awarding-body requirements, while also providing high-quality data analysis to support school self-evaluation, intervention and improvement planning.

This role is a key professional link between data, examinations, SEND and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Examinations and compliance

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of JCQ regulations, ICE and awarding-body guidance, ensuring academy-wide compliance

Act as the academy’s lead contact for examinations, supporting the Head of Centre with statutory declarations and annual JCQ requirements

Manage candidate entries, amendments and withdrawals for all public examinations

Ensure the secure receipt, storage, distribution and dispatch of examination papers and completed scripts

Manage examination timetables, rooming, staffing and resources

Ensure examinations are conducted in line with regulations, managing incidents calmly and effectively

Administer special consideration, malpractice reporting and post-results services where required

Access arrangements

Work closely with the SENDCo to administer access arrangements and reasonable adjustments in line with JCQ guidance

Coordinate evidence gathering, applications, reviews and implementation of approved arrangements

Invigilation

Recruit, train, deploy and manage a team of invigilators

Ensure annual invigilator training and compliance with updated JCQ requirements

Produce invigilation rotas and ensure appropriate cover for all sessions

Data management and analysis

Manage and maintain the academy’s assessment and attainment data systems

Produce accurate and timely reports for:

Senior Leadership Team

Governors and Trust

Subject and department leaders

Support analysis of:

Progress 8 and Attainment 8

Internal assessment cycles

Key groups (PP, SEND, EAL, gender)

Data checking, validation and submission processes

Effective use of data to inform intervention and improvement

Systems and administration

Maintain accurate records using the academy MIS, SISRA and awarding-body systems

Liaise with the finance team regarding examination fees

Contribute to the development and review of data and examinations-related policies

Ensure data protection, confidentiality and accuracy at all times

Essential

Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines

Strong analytical and numerical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

High standards of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity

Confident user of IT systems, including Microsoft Office and school MIS

Desirable

Experience as a Data Officer and/or Exams Officer in a secondary school

Working knowledge of JCQ regulations

Experience producing assessment and performance reports for senior leaders

Familiarity with Progress 8 and Attainment 8 measures
