Why You? You are a dynamic and driven English teacher who is ready for leadership responsibilities and passionate about cultivating excellent teaching and learning. You will:

  • To support the Curriculum Leader and to deputise when and where appropriate.

  • Ensure consistently high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3-4 (potentially Key Stage 5), directly impacting pupil progress and achievement. To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others.

  • Line manage colleagues effectively, holding staff accountable through constructive leadership.

  • To monitor and support the overall progress, attainment and development of students as a manager within the curriculum area.

  • Co-lead and co-design our professional learning programme alongside the Curriculum Leader for English, supporting colleagues to excel.

  • Play a critical role in strategic and operational decision-making,deputising confidently for the Curriculum Leader when necessary.

We need someone with strong leadership skills, with a record in the development of teaching, learning and assessment. You will demonstrate a commitment to children, their development in the curriculum area and more widely across the school in terms of enrichment and personal development. You will need to work strategically, understand how to improve outcomes and develop a curriculum. This is an important role in the school and as such is an exciting opportunity for the right person to make significant contribution to the English department. The applicant must be able to teach high quality lessons in their own specialism.

Caterham High is a community school that serves a richly diverse area of East London. Our staff are well known as friendly and welcoming.
