We are looking for a Deputy Safeguarding Lead , the purpose of this role is to support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Leadership of the Academy in ensuring effective safeguarding practice and systems across the academy, promoting the welfare of all pupils and fulfilling statutory duties under KCSIE and Working Together to Safeguard Children. The DDSL will act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns and contribute to a safe and inclusive school culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • To be part of the academy's inclusion team
  • To support the DSL in managing safeguarding referrals, concerns and disclosures
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records using CPOMS
  • To support the DSL in delivering staff training requirements on all aspects of safeguarding and child protection
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on safeguarding procedures and concerns
  • Work closely with pastoral teams to identify and support vulnerable pupils
  • Liaise with external agencies
  • Assist in reviewing and updating safeguarding policies

Pay range: Actual Salary - NJC SCP 24 - 27 £32,025.35 - £34,495.07 (37 hours, 39 weeks per year) plus a fringe allowance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working in a safeguarding or pastoral role within education
  • Strong understanding of KCSIE, safeguarding legislation and multi agency working
  • Excellent communication, empathy and record keeping skills
  • GCSE grade 5-9 or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Level 3 qualification in relevant discipline
