What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a hardworking, ambitious and dynamic Deputy Director of Maths (KS5 Leader) to join Harris Academy Wimbledon at this exciting time.
The Deputy Director of Maths (KS5 Leader) will bea well-qualified specialist. Holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach from KS3 to KS5.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, be able to show evidence of ongoing professional development
- Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management
- Have experience of lesson observations and giving robust feedback
- Have experience of improvement planning and of implementing a range of strategies to raise student achievement, with evidence of success
- Be able to contribute to improving on the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum
- Have a proven track record of excellent results at KS3 and 4, and, ideally, experience of teaching to KS5
- Have experience of high quality pupil tracking and feedback practices
- Ideally, have experience of working with governors and of working in more than one school

Further information about the job
The purpose of your role will be:
- To deputise for the Director of Maths.
- To be accountable for student progress and development throughout an agreed key stage in the subject area including meeting student achievement targets which are agreed by the Principal and the Governing Body.
- To assist the Director of Maths to ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the subject area through continuously, developing and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
- To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students in the agreed key stage, in accordance with the academy aims and policies, as determined by the Principal and Governing Body.
- To ensure that all academy policies and procedures are implemented and applied consistently by all staff in the subject area.
- To assist the Director of Maths to effectively and efficiently manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources across the subject area.
- To assist the Director of Maths to lead development for literacy, through the WORD strategy, within subject areas, to raise standards of Literacy across the academy.

We are an ‘Outstanding' (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. With our new Sixth Form opening this year, we will soon have a full cohort of students aged 11-18.
Two years after opening, we moved into our brand-new building which is modern, bright and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in every area of the curriculum. We are oversubscribed and fortunate to have an amazing level of support from the community with waiting lists for entry into every year group of our academy.
