Deputy Estates Manager

The Learning Academies Trust is a Multi Academy Trust with 18 fantastic Primary Schools across Plymouth. We pride ourselves on our inspirational leaders and teachers delivering an imaginative and stimulating curriculum which results in high outcomes for our children. Following our continuing growth, we are looking for a Deputy Estates Manager to support our existing Manager and team to ensure our school sites and buildings are managed to the highest standard.

Responsibilities for the Deputy Estates Manager:

  • Help manage the trust-wide 5/10-year Estates development plan by pro-actively monitoring the current condition of the facilities and updating records and make key decisions, in conjunction with the Estates Manager on needs
  • Write outline specifications to enable competitive quotations to be obtained for works for both Building and Mechanical and Electrical works. Liaise with contractors where site visits are required
  • Supporting and providing decisions and justification for budgets and reporting on progress of works
  • Collaborating with the Estates Manager on Premises and Health and Safety related tasks Trust wide including Facility Management.

You will need to have experience in managing contractors and supporting onsite non-technical teams, an eye for detail and the ability to manage conflicting priorities.

Key Skills

  • Formal higher qualification in a Building, or Premises related subject such as BSc in Building Surveying, BSc Facilities Management or similar
  • Sound knowledge of Buildings, their management and Construction including M&E Elements
  • Experience of working within a relevant discipline e.g., facilities, building, maintenance, engineering, surveying or project management
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
  • Full driving licence

Candidates who hold membership of CIOB/RICS or working towards, or Health and safety qualifications such as IOSH/NEBOSH are of high interest however this is not essential.
