Deputy Head of School job summary
Bricknell Primary School is an innovative and high achieving school where pupils thrive and staff are well supported. The school is situated close to the University of Hull and is currently one of the largest primary schools in the city, with 670 pupils on roll, including a 10 place resource base specialising in pupils with ASD.
We are seeking to recruit a Deputy Head of School to take a key leadership role in continuing our successful journey. The appointed candidate will be the strategic lead for the quality of teaching and learning across the school and will lead the continued development of the school curriculum. The role will be non-class based in the first instance but will involve planning and teaching for identified groups of pupils where required.
Salary: Leadership Pay Scale L12 £65,286 - L16 £72,162
In addition to the successful candidate’s responsibilities, the role will involve:
• Contributing fully to the overall leadership and effectiveness of the school.
• Ensuring all groups of pupils are in receipt of appropriate provision, including intervention programmes, to accelerate their progress and ensure they are able to fully participate in the life of the school.
• Working in partnership with the Head of School to ensure staff are deployed effectively to meet the needs of all pupils.
• Holding staff to account to ensure there is first quality teaching for all groups of pupils.
• Ensuring all staff have a programme of effective support and training, based on an accurate assessment of their needs.
• Monitoring provision and tracking progress to ensure it is effective in raising achievement.
• Reporting to the SLT, Local Governing Body and the Academy Trust Board, using clear and accurate data analysis, to ensure the school budget is deployed effectively to raise standards for all pupils.
• Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Attendance Lead.
The successful candidate will:
• Have recent, relevant senior leadership experience.
• Be an outstanding teacher with a proven record of raising standards.
• Be able to demonstrate proven leadership skills and significant impact at a whole school level.
• Have excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Be committed to meeting the needs of all pupils, including those with specific educational needs (successful experience of this would be an advantage)
• Be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence.
