Deputy Head of Sixth Form job summary

We are seeking to appoint a permanent Deputy Head of Sixth Form to work closely with the Head of Sixth Form and the wider Sixth Form team, leading and supporting students in Key Stage 5.

The Deputy Head of 6th Form plays a crucial role in supporting the strategic leadership and management of the Year 12 students. This position is responsible for ensuring the continued progress, welfare, and enrichment of our 6th Form students, in alignment with the school's vision and values.

The successful candidate will:

  • Share our commitment to building great learning communities for our students.
  • Have the ability to provide academic and pastoral leadership for students in Key Stage 5
  • Support the personal development of students and provide information and advice to assist their transition into and through the Sixth Form.
  • Be responsible for, with the support of other colleagues and parents/carers, the welfare, pastoral care, and safeguarding of students in Year 12
  • To have the ability to teach English / Science, or Geography would be an advantage
  • Plan creatively for high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Deliver highly effective and engaging lessons with the aspiration of raising the academic outcomes of our students.
  • Be motivated to challenge and help develop amazing young women.
  • Work collaboratively across the school and make a positive contribution to the overall development of the school

The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls is a non-denominational academy secondary school and sixth form for girls aged between 11 and 18. It is located in Romford in the borough of Havering, London. The number of pupils is approximately 1,300.

The school was established in 1906 by Frances Bardsley with the aim of providing free education to the local girls. Formerly across two different sites until 2003, it became The Frances Bardsley School for Girls in 1972 and converted to academy status in 2012.
