What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governing Body and Headteacher of St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a practising Catholic to the position of a Deputy Headteacher with a 0.7 teaching commitment. We are looking for someone who will continue to build on our strong Catholic ethos and help to drive forward our whole school vision.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent practitioner with drive and enthusiasm, who has the knowledge, experience and skills to lead, alongside other senior leaders, on teaching, learning, curriculum and assessment. The Deputy Head Teacher will work closely with the Head teacher and other senior leaders in the school.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Are a practising Catholic with a strong faith commitment.
  • Can demonstrate a clear understanding of Catholic education and the vision and ability to further develop the Catholic life of our school;
  • Have the ability to identify and deliver outstanding teaching; having the confidence to lead and model this.
  • Have previous leadership experience within a primary school, at senior leadership level.
  • Are passionate about ensuring that each pupil fulfils their unique potential;
  • Have a tenacious approach to Safeguarding; ensuring the safety and well being of all
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build on and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents and carers, children, governors and the local and wider community.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the curriculum across the primary age range including EYFS.
  • Have regard and respect for the experiences, knowledge and cultural diversity that every child brings to school and use this as a foundation for improving standards;
  • Offer all children equal access to all aspects of school life; where individual differences are appreciated, celebrated, understood and accepted;
  • Encourage children to become good citizens holding British and Gospel values, by developing caring attitudes, tolerance and respect towards themselves, other children, adults, their school and their community.
