What skills and experience we're looking for

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to become our new Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo.

At Manor Field Infant School, we are extremely proud of our rich curriculum that motivates and inspires our children, our outcomes for all pupils, and the way that our STAR values of Success, Teamwork, Aspiration and Respect permeate through all that we do in our school. Manor Field Infant School is an inclusive school that challenges, inspires and motivates all pupils, from all backgrounds to be the very best they can be.

We are looking for an ambitious and inspirational professional with energy, drive and a firm commitment to high standards and achievement for all pupils. You will be a strong teacher with demonstrable coaching and/or mentoring skills who will be able to work with all staff to further develop teaching and learning throughout our school. You will lead our SEND provision, providing support and advice to inspire and support the whole school community. If you already have the SENCo qualification, great, but if not then we will support you whilst you gain this.

As a great teacher, you will be a problem solver, resilient, well-motivated, and highly organised. You will have great communication skills and be able to lead and manage others effectively, getting the very best from them.

Other areas of leadership will be agreed with the successful candidate – we want to make the most of your strengths, talents and interests. This is a non class-based role. During your first term there will be no regular teaching commitment as you get to know our community and your new role. From September 2024, you will teach one day a week but without the responsibility for a whole class – giving you the best of both worlds!

  • Is an experienced practitioner who has a sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2014 and all its requirements.
  • Has the SENCO accreditation or be prepared to undertake the training for it.
  • Will work with our team to support, challenge and monitor the development, delivery and evaluation of our curriculum, across all phases of our school.
  • Has a good understanding of the KS1 and EYFS curriculums and be able to demonstrate consistently excellent teaching skills, providing an example to inspire and motivate other staff.
  • Will challenge, support and motivate all pupils and staff to achieve high standards.
  • Demonstrates positive, restorative approaches to ensuring high standards of behaviour.
  • Communicates and works in partnership with all stakeholders, maintaining effective relationships with staff, governors, parents and children.
  • Takes a full and active part in all aspects ofour school community.

We can offer you:

  • The opportunity to work in partnership with our Headteacher to develop your leadership skills further.
  • Children who are motivated, keen to learn and proud of their school and achievements.
