Founded in 2005, Beckstone Primary School is a 3-11 Primary School. The school is a result of a remodelling of the existing Victorian Junior School and a modern extension. The school is uniquely placed on top of a hill overlooking Harrington (in 1897 when it was built there was a railway line and station behind it which have since long gone making the school’s geographical position somewhat unusual). Harrington was originally a village but is now part of the town of Workington marking its southern boundary.

The school’s catchment includes Harrington and Salterbeck in an approximate 50:50 ratio (making up 90% of the school’s population with 10% being out of catchment).

Beckstone Primary School is a state of the art school with modern facilities, some of its special features include:

- a strong emphasis on ICT (with a pupil:PC ratio of 1:3, well above the DfE’s guidance of 1:13), interactive whiteboards and visualisers in every classroom, access to tablets and dedicated ICT lessons in our computer suites where your child will be taught by a trained and qualified computer tutor

- a large focus on sport with your child engaged in 2 hours of quality sport each week including dance, aerobics, gymnastics and games. In addition children from year 3 - 5 upwards also go swimming on a day a week during one term each year

- a large focus on the arts with many performances by your child for you to come and watch and enjoy during their time at the school

- out of hours clubs (in many activities, see "Extended Services" in Parents' Information), a breakfast club, Educare and after school learning clubs plus Beckstone Xtra – an after school care service. Your child can take advantage of any of these from 7.30am up until 5.15pm!

- high quality recreational facilities for your child including numerous playgrounds, an adventure playground, an outdoor classroom leading to a large school field, a fort and a cottage!

and last but not least a highly trained, committed and dedicated staff teaching and supporting your child through the learning journey of their Primary career.
