What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Join us and help us shape the future of Catholic Education in Nottinghamshire.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust is looking to appoint a new Deputy Headteacher to this high performing Catholic Secondary School from September 2024.

Christ The King Catholic Voluntary Academy is an oversubscribed school with 850 students from ages 11 to 19 on role. With a strong reputation in the local area, we are a wonderful place to learn, work, play and pray.

This role offers the opportunity to make a difference and to be part of a dynamic and innovative staff team.

In pursuit of continued development and improvement we have three key priorities in the areas of faith, curriculum and character which we aim to achieve through being both forward thinking and outward looking whilst maintaining the strong traditional ethos of the school.

You will take the overarching role of 'Quality of Education'. You will head up school's pursuit of excellence in the leadership, planning and delivery of a challenging curriculum that enables all students to acquire the knowledge and qualifications to succeed in the world around them.

    About us

Christ the King is based in Arnold and serves a wide geographical area from Hucknall to Carlton and parts of the city of Nottingham along with the local areas of Arnold and Woodthorpe around the school. We were judged ‘outstanding’ in our latest Diocesan Canonical inspection for the areas of Catholic Life and Mission and Collective worship, and we are currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

We are part of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, bringing together the 36 Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in Lincolnshire, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.

    You will:

    • Be a practising Catholic (please see accompanying NRCDES document ‘Catholic School and the Definition of a Practising Catholic) with a strong faith commitment and a clear vision for Catholic Education.
    • Ensure that the example and teachings of Jesus Christ are at the centre of all that we do.
    • Place safeguarding at the heart of the school.
    • Have a proven track record of successful leadership, management, and school improvement.
    • Be passionate about ensuring that each pupil fulfils their unique potential.
    • Be a confident, positive, and visible leader with the ability to build relationships with staff, pupils, parents, Governors, Directors, and others working in the CMAT and a wide variety of external partners.
    • Constantly be looking ahead, working closely with the CMAT, Governors and the SLT to develop a compelling faith centred vision for the school that acts as the focus of all activity and drives improvement.
    • Be able to build successful teams and work collaboratively with others to achieve success.
    • Be able to respond and adapt effectively to changing circumstances, maintaining high levels of performance.
    • Actively listen and effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences.
