Deputy Headteacher job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our fantastic team at Horley Infant School with the reinstatement of a Deputy Headteacher. We are looking for an authentic leader who will bring passion, enthusiasm and wisdom to the role. Our Deputy Headteacher would be an exceptional teacher who can both act as a role model and as a coach to other school staff in order to exemplify high quality teaching, learning and assessment for all children, regardless of their starting points. The position will focus primarily on improving the outcomes of our most vulnerable learners and leading the school community ever closer towards the school’s vision. Therefore, someone who is highly motivated and dedicated with high expectations of what all pupils and staff can achieve are essential attributes. It is important to us that we build a team of people who truly enjoy the privilege of working with children and, as such, our Deputy Headteacher should enjoy teaching and have a proven record of excellent classroom practice. Our new Deputy Headteacher will: - Have a passion for quality first teaching and experience of working with pupils with special educational needs - Be able to take a lead on the development of inclusive teaching and learning - Have a positive “can do” attitude - Have excellent behaviour management skills - Be an innovative and strategic thinker with vision, ideas and strong ethics - Have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate the whole school community In return, we have: - Friendly, well-motivated children who enjoy learning - Dedicated, enthusiastic staff who are keen to improve their practice - A supportive Governing Body who know our school well - A well-resourced working environment - Positive and well-established partnerships with our parents - A commitment to supporting the wellbeing of school staff Although holding qualifications in SEN and DSL safeguarding would be an advantage, they are by no means a pre-requisite. We have a commitment to supporting the Professional Development of staff in relation to their role or the school’s strategic focus. We have put together a Deputy Headteacher Recruitment Pack which has a variety of information about the role itself and also about our school. We strongly encourage candidates to browse our school website and to also get in touch with our School Business Manager, Mrs. Shazia Anjum, to arrange a time to meet with school staff and tour the school. Due to the ongoing concerns around COVID-19, we can make suitable arrangements to do this as safely as possible during the school day as well as outside of school hours, if preferred. We really look forward to hearing from you and meeting with you soon. Closing Date: Thursday 13th May Shortlisting: Friday 14th May Shortlisted candidates informed: Friday 14th May Interview: Wednesday 19th May
