We are looking for an inspiring Deputy Headteacher who is passionate about children’s education to join our fantastic staff team from January 2023.

At Ashwell, our successful existing leadership structure means that the Deputy Headteacher role is non-class based and has the following key responsibilities:
Ø Inclusion Leader (SEND / Pastoral / PPG / Designated Teacher – CLA)
Ø Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
Ø Line manager for classroom based support staff
Ø Subject Leader (subject to be agreed)
Ashwell Primary School was last inspected by OFSTED in May 2022 when it was judged to be ‘Good’. As a school, we are passionate about our inclusive practice and supporting the wellbeing of our pupils. We believe strongly in respecting differences and valuing each other as individuals.
“Pupils are enthusiastic to participate in learning. As a result, they behave well in lessons. A nurturing and restorative approach to behaviour has been firmly embedded at the school. Because of this, pupils are able to self-regulate in unstructured times. They share and interact with each other with tolerance and respect. Pupils with SEND receive teaching and support that is adapted to meet their needs. As a result they are fully included in lessons.”

The successful candidate for this role will:
Ø Have previous experience in the area of Inclusion (INCO or SENCO).
Ø Have thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
Ø Be committed to safeguarding and willing to take on the role of Deputy DSL.
Ø Have previous experience as a school leader with proven positive impact on school improvement.
Ø Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a passion for teaching and learning, especially focused on children with SEND and those who are disadvantaged.
Ø Share our commitment to the promotion of pupil and staff wellbeing.
Ø Have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise workload.
Ø Be an excellent communicator who demonstrates a commitment to working in partnership with stakeholders including Governors as well as parents and carers and professional partners.
Ø Be committed to inclusive practice and the promotion of respecting diversity.
Ø Be instrumental in developing and implementing the School Development Plan.
Ø Be a reflective practitioner who is committed to their own professional development.
