Due to the promotion of the current postholder to Headship, a position has arisen for an impactful, innovative Deputy Headteacher with strategic responsibility for Inclusion and Ethos across the school.
With the ability to be strategic and inspirational, the successful candidate will be passionate about promoting positive relationships and across the school and securing the best opportunities for personal development. The postholder will be committed to our school motto ‘to achieving personal best’ and the values (A.R.K.) that underpin all daily life at the school.
They will lead and evolve strategies which enable and enhance behaviour and relationships across the student body, while leading on the school ethos to ensure an effective learning environment for all. These strategies include working with our external alternative provision partners and organisations.
The Deputy Headteacher will oversee the delivery of our personal development curriculum and pastoral programmes. The successful candidate will do this by leading and facilitating our dedicated pastoral, engagement and attendance teams, led by assistant headteachers respectively. The overall aim of these teams is to create and evolve a safe, calm, orderly and respectful school environment which promotes a highly effective learning environment for all. All students are then given the best possible opportunity to achieve excellent education outcomes and fully participate in fantastic memorable experiences in our school community.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise closely and work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to provide strategic vision, leadership and direction for the school which focuses on: improving students’ progress and outcomes; enhancing students’ behaviour and attitudes at school; promoting and supporting a fully inclusive school culture.

· Play a role in the development, monitoring and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan, taking appropriate actions to ensure the school’s goals are achieved.
· Act as a role model to the rest of the Senior Leadership Team and all staff and students in setting and maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of work and in challenging and
supporting others.
· Lead by example, providing inspiration and motivation for students, staff, governors, and parents.
· Share in the effective and efficient management of the school on a daily basis and maintain a high-profile presence for staff and students.
· Lead the strategic development for behaviour and inclusion ensuring accountability measures and strategies are student centred, have impact and are underpinned by a robust evidence
base.
· Contribute to governors’ meetings, and reports, as required.
· Keep abreast of current Trust wide, local and national educational developments and ensure effective dissemination amongst appropriate colleagues.
· Teach a proportionate number of lessons within the timetable as appropriate to role.
· Deputise for the Headteacher as required.
Relationships, Behaviour and Ethos
· Ensure the creation of a safe, calm, orderly and positive environment, characterised by our school values. (Ambition, Respect and Kindness)
· Set and establish clear strategies, routines, and high expectations for the behaviour of all students across all aspects of school life.
· Lead on school uniform policy and on setting the highest standards in school, in liaison with the AHT for Behaviour.
· Take a strategic lead in the development of internal and external alternative provision for those students requiring more personalised pathways.
· Provide expertise in supporting and training colleagues on restorative approaches to behaviour as laid out in the behaviour policy.
· Provide management advice and guidance on the school’s approach to teaching and learning in relation to relationships and behaviour.
· Oversee the personal development and pastoral programmes to ensure outstanding advice guidance and support for all.
· Research and lead on strategies to improve student attitudes and engagement across the school.
· Ensure the school takes a proactive approach to prevent bullying and discrimination and to celebrate and recognise diversity in our community, thereby ensuring students feel safe and
happy.
· Advise on suspensions and appropriate re-integration processes, ensuring in all cases that their use is proportionate, legal, and justified.
· Lead on the development of alternative strategies for suspension.
· Monitor and evaluate behaviour patterns and trends across the school.
· Lead on strategies to manage behaviour through effective CPD.
