What skills and experience we're looking for

Following the successful promotion of our Deputy to a Headship position we have the exciting opportunity to appoint a new senior leader to our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking teacher with a proven record of achieving high standards to help lead our school and staff in our continued commitment to excellence and enjoyment for all our children.

We are a highly successful school but are always seeking new ways to improve and develop further; we never do things just because we always have! Collaboratively, we work hard to achieve the very best outcomes for the children in all aspects of their learning and set high expectations for ourselves. However, we also have a lot of fun along the way and Heatherside Junior is genuinely a happy, caring and positive place to work.

If you are looking for an opportunity to drive curriculum innovation, lead and support colleagues and have a lasting and significant impact on what we can achieve at Heatherside, then we want to hear from you. Do you have a genuine passion for teaching, thrive on a challenge, value the importance of teamwork and leading by example and are eager to progress in your career? If so, this will be your perfect job!

This is a non-class-based role although does include regular weekly teaching commitments as we feel that this is an essential aspect of the Deputy’s role. You will take a lead on overall curriculum development as well as undertaking whole school safeguarding duties, including as a Deputy DSL. You will help shape and support staff professional development and be a champion for our Pupil Premium children.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you dedicated leadership time in your own office, high quality professional development, supportive parents and governors and absolutely fantastic children along with a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and teamwork. Our school is very well resourced, with lots of outdoor space and facilities to support teaching and learning. We share a site with our Infant partners, which means there are many opportunities for us to work together

Further information about the job

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
Visas cannot be sponsored.
If you're interested in teaching or training to teach in England as an international citizen, we can help you understand your next steps.

Commitment to safeguarding

Heatherside Junior School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

We are a three form entry Junior school located in the heart of Fleet. We are a short walk from the Basingstoke Canal and Fleet Pond and there are excellent transport links to London and via the M3.

Most of our children come from Heatherside Infant School which shares our site and with whom we work closely together.

Our school is proud to be part of the Fleet community and is genuinely a great place to work! The children are fantastic and we are lucky to have excellent facilities, including for sport, music, computing and outdoor learning.
