Deputy Headteacher - Pastoral job summary

Cottingham High School, part of The Consortium Academy Trust, is an 11-16 secondary school with over 800 learners, located in the heart of its community. This summer, we celebrated a significant rise in GCSE results, with sharp improvements in progress and achievement at the 9-4 benchmark, including English and Maths. Innovation and inclusion are at the heart of our journey. In September we launched the Thrive Centre—the only school-based hub in the country dedicated to relational practice and inclusion. This is an exciting time to join Cottingham High School as we continue to shape positive futures for every member of our community.

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher, who will take up the post as soon as possible.

How you will make an impact:

  • You will play an integral role in the leadership of the school, providing inspirational and highly effective leadership in order to secure consistently high standards of behaviour and attitudes, attendance and safeguarding, alongside world-class personal development opportunities to impact on the experiences and outcomes of all students.
  • As an integral member of the Leadership Team, you will champion the vision and values of the school and the Trust, consistently demonstrating high standards of professionalism and integrity.

As a Trust, we are ambitious about the future - creating learning environments and excellence in teaching and learning that provide our children and young people with the best chance at a successful future.

This is a great time to join the Trust, as we progress at pace in our next stage of development. We very much look forward to receiving your application for what will be a stimulating, challenging and professionally fulfilling role.

Cottingham High School has fantastic students, supportive parents, passionate teachers and enormous potential: this is an exciting time to join our school. 99% of our parents would recommend our school to another parent. (Parent View April 2019) In May 2017 Ofsted judged the school as good in all areas and the upwards trajectory of our student outcomes continues to evidence this. The class of 2018 delivered our best results ever at GCSE: 72% Basics, and P8 of 0.22 (top 30% of schools nationally). Our Post 16 outcomes placed us in the top 15% of all schools nationally with an ALPs of 3. One parent commented (September 2018) ‘I cannot thank you and the other staff who've supported my son enough. I will be eternally grateful that you all saw my son’s potential, believed in him and have encouraged him to want to achieve.’
