What skills and experience we're looking for

Our staff and governors are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who:

  • Is an outstanding teacher who leads by example with experience across the primary phase
  • Has experience of leadership at middle or senior level with a proven track record for whole school improvement
  • is a forward thinking practitioner with a key interest in innovation and research to drive teaching and learning forward for all pupils including SEND
  • Have proven skill to monitor, evaluate and report on standards of attainment, teaching and learning and data analysis
  • has an ambitious drive and high expectations of achievement for all pupils and has the motivation, organisation with the inter-personal skills to inspire this in others
  • has the ability to manage change and shape future school improvement
  • is committed to working collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, governors and the local community.

  • Will understand their needs and develop their individual talents

Pirehill First School is very much a Community School situated in the residential area of Walton, Stone. We are very fortunate in having beautiful, well maintained grounds which are used throughout the year to enhance our children’s learning, this includes our extremely popular Forest School which is accessed by all of our pupils. Our school is a joyful place of learning which offers a rich and varied curriculum both within and outside of the school day.
Our Ofsted inspection in May 2022 confirmed that we are a ‘good’ school and parents reported that the school is ‘exceptional’, ‘supportive’ with ‘kind and caring staff’.
