Deputy Headteacher (Secondment) job summary

St John Vianney Catholic Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team on a secondment basis. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to contribute to the ongoing development of our vibrant, inclusive, and faith driven school community. This is an ideal opportunity for a current member of a schools Senior Leadership Team who is potentially preparing for headship or seeking further progression and experience in a 2 form entry school.

Duration:
Secondment for two terms.

Main Purpose of the Role:
Uphold and promote the Catholic ethos and values in all aspects of school life
Support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school.
Lead on key areas of school improvement including maths and curriculum development.
Represent the Headteacher at meetings and deputise as required due to the Headteacher leading the English Hub.
Foster a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and safeguarding for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:
Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the formulation and review of the school’s Mission Statement, Development Plan and policies.
Manage staff and resources effectively to achieve school aims and objectives.
Monitor and evaluate progress towards school improvement targets.
Lead on delegated areas such as curriculum, pastoral care and behaviour according to school priorities.
Promote positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors and the wider community.

Person Specification:
Practising Catholic with a clear commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Proven experience in school leadership, at Deputy Head or Assistant Head level.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and develop staff and pupils.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
