What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to oversee all aspects of student learning. As Deputy Headteacher for Student Learning you will be able:

  • To lead the development of all aspect of the school’s curriculum in its widest sense
  • To lead on strategies to improve student attainment and progress and student attitudes to learning
  • To lead and work collaboratively on whole-school responsibilities central to the leadership and management of the school. Other specific responsibilities will be determined on appointment reflecting the experience and expertise of the candidate alongside the needs of the school
  • To provide effective leadership, professional direction and guidance to the school community, including trustees.
  • To deputise for and be responsible for some of the professional duties of the Headteacher in the event of their absence.
  • Under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher to carry out the professional duties of a teacher as specified in the current School Teachers’ Pay & Conditions Document (STPCD)

All members of the Senior Leadership Team are expected:

  • To be responsible for the welfare and safety of students and staff
  • To manage the day to day activities of the school
  • To be an excellent classroom practitioner
  • To participate actively in the full life of the school
  • To be highly visible and a role model for staff and students alike
  • To ensure the day to day management of order and discipline so that high levels of behaviour and courtesy are maintained
  • To line mange curriculum areas and pastoral staff
