Heworth Grange School, part of Consilium Academies, is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and student‑centred Deputy Innovation Manager to join our dedicated team. About the Role
The Deputy Innovation Manager will support the Innovation Manager in leading our KS4 Innovation Centre—an essential provision for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
You will play a crucial role in:
- overseeing day‑to‑day operation of the KS4 Innovation Centre
- delivering high‑quality academic and pastoral support
- developing individualised learning plans
- managing behaviour, wellbeing and reintegration strategies
- liaising with families, staff and external agencies
- using data to monitor impact and drive improvements

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily organisation and operation of the KS4 Innovation Centre.
- Supervise students, including break and lunchtime duties.
- Create and review personalised learning plans.
- Support induction, transition, and reintegration back into mainstream lessons.
- Lead and coordinate support for students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Collate, monitor and report on student data, including termly reports for senior leaders.
- Work closely with parents, carers, teachers and external agencies.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are recorded and acted upon swiftly.
- Provide guidance and support to staff working with Innovation Centre students.
- Deputise for the Innovation Manager when required.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
✔ Excellent literacy, numeracy, communication and ICT skills
✔ Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs
✔ Strong de‑escalation and behaviour management skills
✔ Up‑to‑date safeguarding knowledge
✔ Experience in a school or educational environment
✔ English fluency in line with CEFR requirements
Desirable:
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
Experience supporting curriculum delivery
Experience supporting students with mental health needs
