Deputy Manager (Maternity Cover) job summary
Our friendly and busy, expanding nursery school is looking to appoint an efficient and effective Deputy Manager to join our team and cover maternity leave from December 2024.
Foundations for Children Nursery Schools Federation comprises of four maintained nursery schools: Camrose Early Years Centre for Children & Families and Parklands Nursery School in Northampton; and Croyland Nursery School & Day Nursery and Highfield Nursery School in Wellingborough. We have over 80 years' experience providing high quality early education for children aged 0-5, in some of the most disadvantaged areas in our towns.

Purpose
- To assist the Deputy Headteacher and the management team with leadership, management and daily operation of the nursery provision
- To fully implement curriculum policy within the nursery provision in terms of the image of the child being visual to all decisions, planning, practices and reviews
- To deputise the nursery team, who are responsible for and assist with planning the learning and teaching environment as well as keeping records of progress for groups of children
Main duties
- To support the SMT in ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the education, care and services offered
- To contribute to the enhancement of early education and childcare for children aged 0-3 through effective planning, evaluation and assessment of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
- In conjunction with the management team, to develop and implement weekly and daily plans which ensure the highest quality learning and teaching environment, for your area of responsibility within the nursery provision
- To be a named Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the nursery school, to implement policies, and to ensure that procedures and practice to safeguard children's health, safety, inclusion and wellbeing are being followed by the staff team
- To assist with recruiting, selection and retention of nursery staff
- To assist the SENDCo with observations, assessments and school action plans for children with special educational needs
- In conjunction with the Deputy Headteacher, to ensure professional development plans are in place for all practitioners and that a range of training and professional development opportunities are provided with evidence of impact
- To plan and deliver a range of interventions for children, with evidence of impact of learning outcomes
- To provide reports and updates to governors and SMT on the children's progress and quality of the education, care and services
- To oversee the observation, assessment, planning and reports process, to share with parents/carers and the SMT
